Ernst Lauda , from 1916 to 1919 Ritter von Lauda , (born November 16, 1892 in Vienna , † January 25, 1963 in Baden in Lower Austria) was an Austrian internist .

Ernst Adolf Thomas Lauda was a son of the hydraulic engineering technician and kk section head Ernst Lauda , who was ennobled in 1916 by Emperor Franz Joseph I as "Knight of". After the end of the monarchy in Austria-Hungary , the parliament of German Austria decided on April 3, 1919 to abolish the nobility. As a result of this nobility annulment law , Ernst Ritter von Lauda and his descendants also lost the right to use their titles. Ernst Adolf Thomas Lauda was the brother of the industrialist Hans Lauda and great-uncle of the former Formula 1 racing driver Niki Lauda .

Life

Ernst Lauda was a university professor in Vienna from 1943, and from 1946 he headed the 1st Medical Department at the General Hospital . The main focus of his work was intestinal diseases and cortisone therapy.

In 1959 he was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina .
