Ernst Lynx

Carl Johann Nepomuk Ernst Luchs (born September 3, 1811 in Warmbrunn , Province of Silesia , † January 3, 1886 ibid) was a German medic and ornithologist .

Life

Ernst Luchs studied medicine at the University of Breslau , submitted his dissertation De sphygmologia on November 17, 1836 and subsequently worked as a spa doctor in Warmbrunn until the end of his life .

He put on an extensive ornithological collection, which he sold in 1878 to Ludwig Graf von Schaffgotsch (1842-1891), a member of the Schaffgotsch family . The explorer Otto Finsch named the lynx parakeet ( Myiopsitta luchsi ( Finsch , 1868)) in his honor . The lynx 'Astrild Aegintha luchsi Russ , 1882 is probably a hybrid of Estrilda cinerea or Estrilda troglodytes X Estrilda melpoda .

Ernst Luchs was born on October 15, 1843 under matriculation no. Elected member of the Leopoldina in 1519 with the academic surname Stoll . In 1870 he was accepted as a member of the German Ornithological Society .

Letters from his correspondence to the physician and later President of the Leopoldina Carl Gustav Carus and to the Berlin entomologist Gustav Kraatz have survived.
