Ernst Ludwig Leitner

Ernst Ludwig Leitner (born October 14, 1943 in Wels ) is an Austrian composer , organist and university professor .

education and profession

From 1963 to 1968 he studied music education , organ and composition at the Mozarteum Salzburg and then musicology at the University of Innsbruck .

From 1970 he taught organ and music theory at the Mozarteum in Salzburg , where he headed the music education department from 1973 to 1983 . In 1978 he was appointed university professor. From 2000 to 2008 he was head of the department for conducting , composition and music theory. From 2000 to 2009 he chaired the Senate of the Mozarteum University . Between 1970 and 1996 he was the artistic director of the Wels Bach Choir founded by Johann Nepomuk David and played organ concerts in numerous European countries as well as in the USA and Canada.

Works

His artistic work is documented in the music collection of the Austrian National Library and comprises several genres, including four symphonies, eight instrumental concerts, a requiem and three operas. Leitner's works have received several awards and performed at renowned venues and well-known festivals by recognized orchestras and ensembles. The artist can refer to an extensive discography.
