Ernst Ludwig Pies (born February 23, 1885 in Langenlonsheim ; † May 27, 1942 there ) was a German politician (NSDAP).

Live and act

Pies was born as the son of an independent winemaker. He attended elementary school, then the grammar school in Bad Kreuznach up to the upper secondary level . He later began studying agriculture at the University of Leipzig , which he broke off prematurely to take over his parents' business in Langenlonsheim in 1905. In 1910 he became a council member of his hometown.

In August 1914, Pies moved into the First World War as a reserve reservist with the 8th foot artillery regiment . From 1914 to 1918 he fought at the front, from 1916 as a lieutenant in the Landwehr. During the war he was awarded the Iron Cross of both classes.

After the end of the war, Pies lived again as a farmer and winemaker in Langenlonsheim. In April 1923, Pies was expelled from the mayor of Langenlonsheim for more than a year because of passive resistance to the Allied occupation of the Rhineland . He later became a member of the mayor's council and first alderman of the community of Langenlonsheim.

In 1930 Pies joined the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP). In 1931 he became the mayor of Langlonsheim. Until 1933 he was a member of the board of the Upper Rhine Land Federation; He was also a board member of the Prussian Wine Growers' Association. In the Reichstag elections of July 1932 Pies was a candidate of the Nazi Party for the constituency 21 (Koblenz-Trier) in the Reichstag voted, of which he was subsequently without interruption until March 1936th The most important parliamentary event in which Pies took part during his time as a member of parliament was the passing of the Enabling Act in March 1933, which formed the legal basis for the establishment of the Nazi dictatorship and which, among other things, was passed with Pies vote. In 1938 Pies ran for the Reichstag, but received no mandate. He was also a member of the Kreuznach district council .
