Ernst Nägeli (writer, 1908)

Ernst Nägeli (born December 13, 1908 in Mattwil ; † March 13, 2006 in Frauenfeld ) was a Swiss dialect poet , editor and author .

Life

Ernst Nägeli grew up as a son of a farmer in Mattwil, put the Matura at the Kantonsschule Frauenfeld, and then studied in Zurich and Heidelberg German. In 1926/1927 he was active in the Thurgovia association, where he met the FDP - Grand Councilor and editor of the Thurgauer Zeitung, Rudolf Huber.

In 1943 he married Emmy Kreis. At times he worked as a journalist in Brussels . From 1938 to 1978 he worked as an editor for the Thurgauer Zeitung , where he played a key role in shaping the feature pages. His contributions were published in the Thurgauer Jahrbuchn . Ernst Nägeli also wrote as a Thurgau correspondent for the NZZ .

Especially in the summer he stayed regularly in Salenstein , where he liked to go hiking.

In the later years of his life he wrote numerous works in the dialect of his Thurgau homeland. His ties to his homeland and his cosmopolitanism are reflected in his texts as well as in his appearance and manner. His numerous books have all been published by Huber Verlag in Frauenfeld.
