Ernst Prockl
Ernst Johann Proeckl (born June 21, 1888 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary , † December 4, 1957 in Vienna, Austria ) was an Austrian actor and director .
Life
After attending secondary school, Ernst Prockl went to the Vienna Academy for Music and Performing Arts. He found his first engagement at the Stadttheater Mainz and via the Royal Theater Dresden and the Schauspielhaus Frankfurt am Main he came to Berlin , where he played on various stages between 1918 and 1933. Between 1933 and 1947 he was a member of the ensemble of the Volkstheater in Vienna and the "Insel" before he was appointed to the Burgtheater . The old shepherd Corinnus in As You Like It was the last role he appeared in.
One of the roles of Ernst Pröckl included the Polonius in Hamlet or Quince in Midsummer Night's Dream , but also in the contemporary repertoire as in The Crucible by Arthur Miller and The Holy Experiment of Fritz Hochwälder he showed at times in small batches, its character art.
In addition to his work as a theater actor, he worked as a spokesman for radio, first for RAVAG and after the Second World War for the broadcasting group Rot-Weiß-Rot . He also appeared in feature films, such as The Last Act .
It rests in the Evangelical Cemetery Vienna-Simmering (VIII, Av. 9)
