Karl Ernst von Otto-Kreckwitz ( Ernst von Otto ; born July 26, 1861 in Possendorf , † 1938 ) was a German cynologist and publicist .

Life

Ernst von Otto-Kreckwitz studied law, then science, dealt with paleontology and then with dogs. He reformed the entire breeding and exhibition system, was active in breeding himself and was considered the most outstanding cynologist in Germany. He lived in Bensheim on Bergstrasse. From 1885 he published the magazine Der Dog Sport in Munich , from 1893 the magazine was called Dog Sport and Hunting . From 1904 he was also the editor of the organ of the special club Der Vorstehhund . On July 16, 1906, on an initiative by him together with Albert de Gingins , the cartel of studbook-keeping special clubs for hunting and working dogs (in short: the cartel ) was founded as the second German umbrella organization in the dog industry. Von Otto was on the board of the cartel until 1912.

Ernst von Otto-Kreckwitz was the lover of Countess Maria Louise Elisabeth Mendel von Wallersee and had a son with her: Friedrich Karl Ludwig Maria Graf Larisch von Mönnich (1894–1929).
