Erri De Luca
Erri , actually Enrico De Luca (born May 20, 1950 in Naples ), is an Italian writer and translator .
biography
At the age of eighteen, Erri De Luca went to Rome in 1968 to participate in the extra-parliamentary movement Lotta Continua (German: permanent struggle) . In the 1970s he became one of its leading figures.
He then worked in numerous professions in and outside Italy - as a skilled worker at Fiat , driver, warehouse clerk and bricklayer. During the war in Yugoslavia he was involved as a driver of aid deliveries for the population. He taught himself several languages, including ancient Hebrew , which enabled him to translate some books of the Bible into Italian.
At the age of 39, he published his first book Non ora, non qui (Not here and not now) in 1989 , in which he recalled his childhood in Naples. Since his works are regularly translated into French , he received several awards in France between 1994 and 2002: in 1994 the Prix France Culture for Aceto, arcobaleno , in 2000 the Prix Laure Bataillon for Tre Cavalli and in 2002 the Prix Femina Étranger for Montedidio . In 2010 De Luca was partially awarded the Petrarca Prize . In contrast, Italian literary criticism was not always favorable to him. In a collective diatribe z. B. Massimo Onofri also De Lucas work and criticized the "eternal Italian Dannunzianesimo , here in an ideologically conditioned red paint". Regarding De Lucas' frequent inspiration from Bible texts, Onofri spoke of "theological kitsch".
In recent times, De Luca has often been working on joint projects with other authors and artists. B. with the musicians Gianmaria Testa and Gabriele Mirabassi in the partially set to music performance of his Chisciotte e gli invincibili (Don Quixote and the invincible) . He also wrote the text for the song 'Italia una parola aperta' , published in 2013 and sung by Antonella Ruggiero .
In 2015, De Luca was accused by a Turin court of having called in two newspaper interviews in autumn 2013 to "sabotage" the Mont Cenis Base Tunnel , the railway tunnel project between Lyon and Turin; the public prosecutor saw it as an incitement to "specific and unlawful acts." The court acquitted him on October 19, "surprisingly for him".
