Erwin Bishop
Erwin Bischof (born October 16, 1940 in Zug ; † February 3, 2015 ) was a Swiss management consultant, politician ( FDP.The Liberals ) and publicist.
Life
Bischof completed a commercial apprenticeship in Zug from 1956 to 1959 and passed his Matura in 1963 . From 1963 to 1969 he studied modern history and German at the universities of Bern , Bonn and Geneva . In 1969 he received his doctorate in philosophy with a dissertation on Rhenish separatism .
From 1969 to 1970 Bishop was assistant to Walther Hofer at the Historical Institute in Bern. He then served as a diplomat in Bern , Warsaw and Geneva until 1980 . From 1973 to 1975, Bishop was Deputy Executive Secretary of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE) in Geneva and Helsinki . From 1975 to 1980 he worked as a press spokesman in the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (Foreign Ministry) in Bern.
Since 1980, Bischof has been an independent management consultant in the areas of public relations and political communication; He was also a co-founder of the free weekly newspaper Bernerbär in 1984 . From 1984 to 1986 he was municipal councilor of Bolligen and from 1986 to 1991 a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern . In 1993, Bischof founded the "interforum" association, which organizes symposiums and seminars for business circles throughout Switzerland. Mikhail Gorbachev took part in the opening event in Bern .
Bishop was married, had two grown sons and was a citizen of Eggersriet .
