Erwin Shoultz-Carrnoff

Erwin Shoultz-Carrnoff , until 1960 Schulz-Carrnoff , (born November 21, 1913 in Königsberg , Prussia, † July 25, 1990 in Munich ) was a German modern painter.

Life

Shoultz-Carrnoff studied painting in his hometown with Heinrich Schmalz and Wilhelm Lenggrüßer, came to Munich via the Netherlands and attended Karl Caspar's drawing class at the Munich Art Academy in the early 1930s .

After his military service on the Murmansk front, he returned seriously injured to Traunstein (Upper Bavaria) and founded the artist group Roter Reiter with like-minded people in 1945 in order to catch up with international art development after the dictatorship.

Until his death in 1990 he remained president of the artist group Roter Reiter and organized over 50 national and international exhibitions. His work followed on from late Expressionism , and numerous abstract works and objects were created. In 1975 he received the Schwabing Art Prize and in 1988 the " Munich Glows " medal .
