Erzgebirge-Vogtland Chess Federation

The Erzgebirge-Vogtland Chess Federation was founded on October 31, 1885 in Limbach . 47 players from Aue , Auerbach , Chemnitz , Furth , Glauchau , Greiz , Hartmannsdorf , Lauter , Limbach, Leipzig , Loschwitz and Oberlungwitz took part in this chess tournament . The general secretary of the German Chess Federation Hermann Zwanzig acted as arbitrator .

Main, subsidiary, prizewinner, free and raffle tournaments were held at the 27 congresses of the Chess Federation, but no championships were played. Representatives of the Thuringian Chess Federation, with which there was a cartel connection, also took part in the prize winners' tournaments. The most popular tournament in Annaberg in 1897 also included three players from Leipzig's Augustea who did not belong to the chess federation.

The presidents of the Erzgebirge-Vogtland Chess Federation were Otto Theuerkorn (Chemnitz) from 1885 to 1899 and Hugo von Einsiedel (Glauchau) from 1899 to 1908.

The chess federation became part of the Saxon chess federation founded on October 30, 1908 in Freiberg .
