Es Vedrà is an island in the Balearic Islands that is just a few hundred meters off the west coast of Ibiza near Cala d'Hort . To the north of the island, the Sa Galera rock juts out of the water, while Es Vedranell is located between Es Vedrà and Ibiza . The island reaches a height of 382 meters at Picatxo des Migjorn (on the southern slope).

The island is designated as a nature reserve and is uninhabited. The only larger mammals that live on the island are goats , which were released on the island by a monk who lived there in asceticism for some time . In February 2016, the entire population of wild goats was hunted down for the benefit of the species-rich and sometimes endemic fauna.

Trivia

There are many myths and rumors about the island of Es Vedrà. For some, Es Vedrà is the last visible part of Atlantis , others report UFO appearances. The island is featured on the cover of Mike Oldfield's music album Voyager .
