The connecting piece between the triangles Munich-Allach and Munich-Eschenried is called Eschenrieder Spange (in traffic radio and in everyday language also "A 99a" ) . Officially, this section of the motorway does not have its own number and belongs to the federal motorway 99 .

history

The Eschenrieder Spange was opened to traffic on September 5, 1998, before the construction of the Munich-West intersection. From today's perspective, it serves as a shortcut between the A 8 from the direction of Stuttgart and the A 99 to the Munich-North junction , as the Munich-West junction, at which these motorways intersect, is a few kilometers to the south. The triangles at the ends therefore only have ramps in the direction of Augsburg / Stuttgart or Munich- North. The entire length of the motorway runs parallel to Munich's Nordring .

The corresponding ramps were missing at the Munich-West motorway junction until summer 2012, so that the Eschenried brace had to be used. It was also not possible to reach the Munich-Langwied junction (between the Munich-West junction and the Eschenried triangle) on the A 8 from the northern part of the A 99.

Traffic volume

In 2015 there was an automatic counting point along the Eschenrieder Spange. No information is available on the average daily traffic volume for this period. For 2014 it was:

Counting point Motor vehicle traffic / day Heavy traffic / day
AD Munich – Eschenried (O) (9774) 57,572 8,406
