The Eschkopfturm , sometimes also called Ludwigsturm , is a lookout tower that is located on the eponymous Eschkopf in the Palatinate Forest. It is a listed building .
location
The Eschkopfturm is located in the Frankenweide , as the middle part of the Palatinate Forest is called, on the boundary of the local community Wilgartswiesen . It is located in the middle of a closed forest area. The settlement area of the district Hofstätten is around three kilometers south . Bundesstrasse 48 runs around 200 meters to the north . About four kilometers further north is the hamlet of Johanniskreuz, which belongs to the local community of Trippstadt .

history
Before the tower was erected, there was a wooden tower at its current location during Napoleon's time , the function of which was an optical telegraph . Such facilities were built on several mountains along the Mainz - Paris line . These were used to transmit messages.
The Eschkopfturm itself was built in 1902. The purpose of its establishment was the national survey .
Connection
