Espíritu Santo Church

The Roman Catholic Church Espíritu Santo (German Holy Spirit ) in Zamora , the capital of the province of the same name in the autonomous region of Castile-León in Spain , was built at the beginning of the 13th century. The late Romanesque church, northwest of the city center, has been a protected architectural monument since 1983 ( Bien de Interés Cultural ).

The church consecrated to the Holy Spirit has a nave and a retracted choir with a straight end. This choir wall, to which a smaller house was built, is adorned with a rose window. The arched portal is simply designed. The two roofs are adorned by acroteries .

During renovations in 1963, wall paintings from the 14th century were discovered depicting the evangelist symbols.

The church has been the seat of the brotherhood Hermandad Penitencial del Santísimo Cristo del Espíritu Santo since 1974 .
