The Estadio Francisco Sánchez Rumoroso ( German Francisco Sánchez Rumoroso Stadium , full name: Estadio Mundialista Francisco Sánchez Rumoroso ) is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Chilean city of Coquimbo . The Coquimbo Unido football club plays its games here.
history
The Estadio Francisco Sánchez Rumoroso was built in 1970 and opened on July 1st of that year. It offered space for 15,700 spectators. The 1997 U-20 South American Football Championship took place next to the Estadio Francisco Sánchez Rumoroso in the Estadio La Portada ( La Serena ) and Estadio Tierra de Campeones ( Iquique ) stadiums . In 2007, the stadium was selected as one of four venues for the 2008 U-20 Women's World Cup . To this end, extensive renovations were carried out on January 25, 2008. About ten months later, the renovation was inaugurated on November 19, 2008. The Instituto Nacional de Deportes bore the costs of around CLP 13.2 billion . The grandstands were expanded and covered all around and the floodlights were renewed. Since then, the stadium has had 18,750 seats. In the final of the Copa Chile 2008/09 on February 17, 2009, Deportes Ovalle and CD Universidad de Concepción clashed in the stadium , so that Club Deportivo Universidad won 2-1. On December 8, 2010 the final of the Copa Chile took place again in the stadium of Coquimbo. It stood Municipal Iquique and Deportes Concepcion opposite. After a 1-1 draw, Municipal Iquique won 4-3 on penalties. The stadium was a venue for the 2015 U-17 World Cup . It is the venue for the 2018 South American Women's Football Championship .
