Etien Velikonja (born December 26, 1988 in Šempeter pri Gorici , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Slovenian football player .

society

From 2006 to 2010 Velikonja played in the first division of Slovenia for ND Gorica . In the 2008/09 season, the striker was the top scorer with 17 goals. Since the 2010/11 season he has been playing for the Slovenian record champions NK Maribor , with whom he won the championship in 2011 and 2012.

He played the second half of the 2016/17 season for Turkish first division club Gençlerbirliği Ankara and then moved to Dutch club Willem II Tilburg in summer 2017 . But only a year later he returned to his hometown club ND Gorica .

National team

Velikonja is a multiple U-21 national player. He made his debut in the Slovenian senior national team on August 12, 2009 in the World Cup qualifier against San Marino .
