Eugene Kolb

Eugen Hermann Hans Kolb (born October 22, 1879 in Besigheim , † April 10, 1954 in Stuttgart ) was a German judge .

Life

The son of a Protestant postal inspector passed the first state examination (I b) in 1904 and the second in 1907 (I b). He became an assessor in the same year. In 1911 he became a local judge at the Heilbronn District Court , and in 1913 at the Stuttgart- City District Court . During the First World War he held the rank of lieutenant in the Landwehr. In 1921 he was appointed District Court Director at Heilbronn District Court. From there he came to the bench of the Imperial Court1926. This career continued seamlessly during the regime, when he was appointed Senate President at the Reichsgericht. The peak of his career was reached with the vice presidency of the Reichsgericht on April 1, 1942. In May 1945, Kolb, as the highest representative of the Reichsgericht after Erwin Bumke's suicide , declared that the administration of justice had come to a standstill. With the withdrawal of US troops from Leipzig in June 1945, he fled to Württemberg because of a warning and out of consideration for his family from the Soviets. In September 1945 he was arrested in Besigheim and imprisoned for one year in internment camp 76 Hohenasperg near Ludwigsburg . After denazification , Kolb became a legal assistant in the Württemberg Ministry of Justice. He left in 1951.
