Eugene Jerome Cooney (born December 20, 1931 in Medicine Hat ) is former Bishop of Nelson .

Life

Eugene Jerome Cooney was ordained a priest on June 4, 1960 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Nelson on March 15, 1996 . The Bishop of Calgary , Paul John O'Byrne , ordained him episcopal on June 11 of that year ; Co- consecrators were Peter Joseph Mallon , Archbishop of Regina , and Wilfrid Emmett Doyle , Bishop Emeritus of Nelson.

On November 30, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
