Eugene Joseph McGuinness
Eugene Joseph McGuinness (born September 6, 1889 in Hellertown , Pennsylvania , † December 27, 1957 ) was Bishop of Oklahoma City and Tulsa .
Life
Eugene Joseph McGuinness received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on May 22, 1915 through Archbishop Edmond Francis Prendergast .
Pope Pius XI appointed him Bishop of Raleigh on October 13, 1937 . The Archbishop of Philadelphia, Denis Joseph Cardinal Dougherty , donated him episcopal ordination on December 21 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops William David O'Brien from Chicago and Hugh Louis Lamb from Philadelphia.
On November 11, 1944, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the Coadjutor Bishop of Oklahoma City and Tulsa , and the titular bishop of Ilium . The inauguration took place on January 10 of the following year. With Francis Clement Kelley's death on February 1, 1948, he followed this as Bishop of Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
