Eupatorus is a genus of beetles in the family of scarab beetles in the superfamily of Scarabaeoidea .
Appearance
Eupatorus species are large (40 - 100 millimeters), bright and smooth giant beetles. The pronotum and legs are black, the wings are often more or less yellowish brown. As is common with horn beetles (Dynastinae), the males are much larger than the females and have strong horns on the head and pronotum, which the females lack. In this genus there is usually a long horn on the head and two horns on either side of the pronotum, these are curved, smooth and pointed. The middle horn pair of the pronotum can be reduced to sharp nodules. The front legs have three teeth at the tip on the outside.
