Europarc Dreilinden
The Europarc Dreilinden is a business park , which on the grounds of the former Europe's largest 1993 border control point Drewitz was built.
history
In today's Dreilinden district , the Drewitz border crossing point was enclave-like , militarily secured, and the Allied crossing Checkpoint Bravo between West Berlin and the GDR on today's A 115 motorway . The checkpoint on the then important transit route to the west and south as a continuation of the Berlin AVUS / A 115 was the most frequented crossing to West Berlin.
The commandant's tower has been preserved from the former border crossing point. The Checkpoint Bravo e. V. , named after the Allied name for this checkpoint, is promoting the restoration, expansion and maintenance of the listed tower. The tower was completely renovated in 2007 and contains a permanent exhibition that recalls the history of the division of Germany .
Todays use
The business park, which borders directly on Berlin's urban area, belongs to the municipality of Kleinmachnow and thus to the state of Brandenburg . As a special feature, the business park tenants can have their landline connection connected to both the Kleinmachnower and the Berlin local network.
The size of the border fortifications at that time is reflected in the industrial park area of 450,000 m². So far, 75 percent of the property has been developed. 80 companies with around 3000 employees are currently located at the site. In the target planning, the business park should offer more than 6000 jobs.
The best-known companies in Europarc are the German branch of eBay , the Internet marketplace for vehicles mobile.de and a Porsche car dealership. Numerous smaller companies and two hotels are also represented. eBay, located in Europarc since 2000, increased its workforce by 600 to 1300 between 2004 and 2008. By outsourcing international customer service to Dublin and cutting 400 jobs, there are still 900 employees working for eBay in Kleinmachnow.
A connection between the business park and the re-established main line between Berlin and Potsdam , which was dismantled after the Second World War , is open. The area can only be reached by public transport via bus line 620 from Wannsee train station as well as from Kleinmachnow and Teltow . The connection to the A 115 is guaranteed by a separate motorway junction .
