European Championships 2022
The 2nd European Championships are to take place in Munich from August 11 to 21, 2022 .
The program includes European championships in athletics , cycling ( road , track , mountain bike and BMX ), artistic gymnastics , rowing , triathlon , canoe racing , beach volleyball , table tennis and sport climbing . 4400 athletes will compete for EM medals in a total of 158 disciplines. In contrast to the first edition in 2018 , however, no golf or swimming competitions will be held. The European Swimming Championships will take place at the same time in Rome , but according to the current status, they should remain independent of the event in Munich.
It will be the largest event in the Munich Olympic Park since the 1972 Olympic Games . The cost of the event will amount to 130 million euros. Of this, 100 million euros are financed by the city of Munich, the Free State of Bavaria and the federal government.
