Evan Handler (born January 10, 1961 in New York City ) is an American actor .

Life

He began his film career in 1981 with a role in the film The Chosen, based on a novel by Chaim Potok . In the same year he got a role in the drama The Cadets of Bunker Hill . In the following years he mainly played various roles for television. In 1994 he had a supporting role in the film Natural Born Killers directed by Oliver Stone . Two years later, Handler starred in the kidnapping drama Bounty. From 1999 to 2000 he played the leading role of Shrug in the ABC series Irgendwie LA (orig .: It's Like, You Know ... ) .

He became known to a wider audience through the role of Harry Goldenblatt in the television series Sex and the City , which he played from 2002 to 2004. He took on the role again in the 2008 movie and the sequel Sex and the City 2 (2010). After the series ended, Handler was seen in other television series, such as one of the main characters in all seasons of the series Californication and as a supporting actor in the fourth season of 24 , where he played the lawyer David Weiss. In 2006 he starred as Dave in the eponymous episode of the second season of the television series Lost .

In the 1990s, Handler had leukemia . He wrote down his experiences in his book Time on Fire: My Comedy of Terrors .

He has been married to Elisa Atti since October 2003.
