Protestant church

The Evangelical Church in Brombach , a district of Eberbach in the Rhein-Neckar district in northwest Baden-Württemberg , was built in the 13th century.

history

Brombach was laid out in the 12th century by the Lords of Steinach on behalf of the Bishop of Worms . Based on the building findings, it is assumed that the church was built in the following century. She was branch of the St. Peter's Church of Heddesbach and Maria Magdalena consecrated. The Landschad von Steinach introduced the Lutheran creed early on .

In the 19th century, the nave was extended to the west, side portals were built in and the church tower was raised. Around 1900 the wall paintings from the 15th century were exposed. Due to the history, there were almost exclusively Protestants in Brombach until the Second World War. Only with the admission of displaced persons were there a larger number of Catholics after the war.

description

The geostete church is in the south of Brombach. Presumably it was once a fortification . The Gothic substructure of the choir tower dates from the 13th century. The neo-Gothic bell storey and the helmet roof were built in the 19th century. The three eastern axes of the nave probably date from the 15th century, the other two were added during the expansion in the 19th century.

Murals

Inside there are wall paintings from the first half of the 15th century: depictions of saints, the Last Judgment and the four symbols of the evangelists . The organ was built in 1972 by Ernest Mühleisen from Strasbourg. The instrument has eight registers on two manuals and a pedal .
