Brombach is a district of Eberbach in the Rhein-Neckar district in Baden-Württemberg .

Geographical location

Brombach is located about six kilometers northwest of Eberbach in the southern Odenwald in the Neckartal-Odenwald nature park as an exclave that is separated from the rest of the city by the Hessian town of Hirschhorn (Neckar) and the Hessian town of Oberzent . The district is bounded in the east by the Finkenbach and in the west by the Ulfenbach and is predominantly forested. The highest point is the 510 meter high Flockenbusch north of the village .

history

The place originally belonged to Neckarsteinach and then to the Lords of Harfenberg on the Harfenburg . Later the place was Speyrer fiefdom of the Lords of Hirschhorn . When the Hirschhorn inheritance was divided in 1393, Brombach came to Eberhard von Hirschhorn. The jurisdiction of the place, however, lay as a Worms fief with the Lords Landschad von Steinach . In 1743 the place with the Hirschhorn inheritance came to the barons of Metternich , after their extinction the place fell back to the Speyer Monastery and finally became Baden in 1802/03 . Brombach was incorporated into Eberbach on January 1, 1975.

The Maria Magdalena Church in Brombach has always been a branch church of Heddesbach . After the Reformation, Brombach was parish off to Neckarsteinach, where half of the large fruit tithe went.

coat of arms

The blazon of the coat of arms reads: In silver a growing, blue-clad saint with a gold nimbus, in her right hand a black cross, in the left hand holding a green palm branch.

The coat of arms goes back to a court seal from 1770. Perhaps the saint represents the patroness of the Speyer diocese Maria or the church patroness Maria Magdalena in Brombach. In 1901 the coat of arms was officially approved by the Baden General State Archives.
