The Evangelical Church in Bammental in the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis in the north-west of Baden-Württemberg was built between 1902 and 1904 according to the plans of Hermann Behaghel .

history

Today's Bammental was created when the towns of Bammental, Reilsheim and the Vorstädtl grew together. There was a parish in Reilsheim early on. In 1353 Engelhard von Hirschhorn acquired the church set from the von Menzingen brothers . The place had been under Palatinate sovereignty since 1330 . Elector Ottheinrich disregarded the right of collage of the Lords of Hirschhorn and introduced the Reformation in 1556 . In 1748 the old church was replaced by a new building. The plans came from Sigmund Zeller .

Today's church was built from 1902 according to the plans of the architect Hermann Behaghel , who, as the chairman of the Protestant Church Building Inspectorate in Heidelberg, had a major influence on the development of Protestant sacred buildings in North Baden. The inauguration took place on May 15, 1904. In 1951 the church was renovated and the interior was painted white according to the times. During the renovation, which took place between 1986 and 1989, the changes were largely reversed and the original condition restored.
