The Evangelical Church Besse is a listed church building in Besse , a district of the Edermünde community in the Schwalm-Eder district in Hesse .

The building is the parish church of the village and is located on a knoll in the middle of the old fortified church yard , which served as a cemetery until 1870. The strong west tower from 1518 with two-part acoustic arcades and a hipped roof has four low control houses . The late Gothic relief with the depiction of Christ falling under the cross on the outside of the tower dates from 1517. The tower hall with ribbed vaults on consoles is today the chancel ; it is open to the nave in a large pointed arch . The ship with the two-storey galleries with rich cornices was rebuilt in 1716, partly with old stone material. The interior is divided into two halves by a large arch. The windows date from the 19th century. The pulpit was made around 1700. The organ was installed at the beginning of the 21st century.

In 1933 the western entrance in the tower was bricked up and the side entrance was created. From 2000 to 2006 a complete renovation was carried out in several construction phases.

In the arched portal of the fortified churchyard there is a younger Renaissance portal from 1594.
