Evangelical Church Koblenz-Metternich
The Evangelical Church Koblenz-Metternich , also called Ziegler Church, is a Protestant church in Koblenz . The church, built for Lippische Ziegler in the Metternich district in 1898 , was the first new Protestant church in what is now Koblenz. It belongs to the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland .
history
The Evangelical Church in Metternich was in 1898 at the instigation of the Koblenz pastor Otto Seeger (1849-1921) according to the plans of the Koblenz architect Rudolph Farchland for Protestant Ziegler from lip built. The brick makers came to Metternich as seasonal workers to work in the brick kilns. The construction of the church was supported by Empress Augusta , but also financed by collections from the Lippe Consistory in Detmold and the Evangelical Church in Berlin . With the Lippe Ziegler, the proportion of the Protestant population in Metternich had more than tripled from 50 (1889) to 155 (1900).
Construction and equipment
The Evangelical Church is a neo-Romanesque hall building with a round tower and a small saddle roof . With the apse it faces north. On the south side there is a barely low but slightly shifted porch to make room for the cylindrical tower with a conical roof . Exterior is stucco building with different sized arched windows with pilasters and arched friezes of brick broken.
The small hall with a gallery inside has a choir raised by two steps . The mechanical pipe organ was built in 1965 by the Oberlinger company from Windesheim . A bell from the Rincker bell foundry in Sinn hung in the tower in 1963 .

The Evangelical Church of Koblenz-Metternich in the Metternich-Güls parish has been part of the "Evangelical Church Community Koblenz-Lützel" since 1965, which also includes the Bodelschwingh community center in Lützel , the Evangelical Church in Güls , the Evangelical Church in Kesselheim and the Martin Luther Church belong in Neuendorf .
Monument protection
The Evangelical Church Koblenz-Metternich is a protected cultural monument according to the Monument Protection Act (DSchG) and entered in the list of monuments of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . It is located in Koblenz-Metternich at Trierer Straße 141 .
