Evangelical Church Malchen
The Evangelical Church of Malchen is a church in Malchen in the southern Hessian community of Seeheim-Jugenheim .
Architecture and history
The church, which was built in the Middle Ages (first mentioned in 1514), was probably expanded and renovated at that time.
The small ship stands on a rectangular plan ; This is followed by an approximately equally long drawn-in, rectangular choir room .
The small church is kept simple outside and inside. A square roof turret with a four-sided pyramid helmet rises above the nave . The round-arched West portal is provided with a late Renaissance - Sandsteingewände : (dated 1693 in the keystone provided). The church was probably rebuilt in 1693.
The interior of the church is completely flat covered with boards ; which are decorated with tendril paintings . The surrounding wall painting is dated to the Gothic period around 1500.
The seating with ancient knobs on the cheeks is remarkable .
Renovations took place in 1860, 1936, 1984 and 1987.
The church, including its furnishings, is a cultural monument for artistic reasons and for reasons of local history .
The Evangelical Church Community Seeheim-Malchen is part of the Darmstadt-Land Dean's Office of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau .
