Evelyn Pernkopf (born February 6, 1990 ) is an Austrian ski racer . She has been a member of the B-team of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) since the 2007/08 season and in March 2010 she became the Austrian state champion in giant slalom.

Career

Pernkopf graduated from the ski school in Windischgarsten and then attended the ski school in Stams . As a five-year-old she took part in her first ski races and achieved two podium places at the Austrian Schoolchildren's Championships in winter 2004/05. She contested her first FIS races in December 2005 and was among the top three in an FIS race for the first time in March 2006. After she had already achieved three podium places at the Austrian Youth Championships in 2006, she won all five competitions of the Austrian Youth Championships in 2007 in her age group. In February 2007 she started at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Jaca , where she finished seventh in the slalom. In March she took part in the Junior World Championship 2007 in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee , where her best result was eighth place in the Super-G. A week later she achieved her first victory in an FIS race.

Pernkopf has been competing in the European Cup since the 2007/08 season . In her first race, the Levi giant slalom on November 24, 2007, she finished fifth, which was her best result until the end of the season. Only one more time this winter she came under the top 30. At the Junior World Championships 2008 in Formigal , she achieved 18th place in giant slalom and 21st place in slalom. She did not finish in the downhill and super-G.

In August 2008 Pernkopf suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in her right knee while training in Zermatt , which is why she had to take a break for the entire 2008/09 season. The next winter she took part in competitions again and achieved three top 10 results in the European Cup , including two fourth places in the giant slaloms in Crans-Montana and Bischofswiesen / Götschen . She also achieved fourth place in the giant slalom at the 2010 Junior World Championship . Her greatest success so far was on March 16, 2010, when she became the Austrian state champion in giant slalom in Innerkrems . The day before, she had already finished third in the slalom.

On December 20, 2010, Pernkopf fell severely at the European Cup giant slalom in Limone Piemonte and suffered a knee dislocation with a tear in the anterior and posterior cruciate ligament, as well as a dislocation of the patella and a tear in the medial meniscus and collateral ligament. After a one-year break from racing, she has been taking part in competitions again since December 2011 - so far mainly in FIS races and only rarely in European Cup races.
