Evert Rinsema ( August 28, 1880 in Gorredijk - July 4, 1958 in Heerenveen ) was a Dutch poet who - especially in its beginnings - was close to the De Stijl avant-garde movement .

Rinsema was a brother of the visual artist Thijs Rinsema (1877–1947) and lived in Drachten , Friesland . Like his father, he was a shoemaker and in his free time he read the works and biographies of important philosophers , such as Heraclitus and Laozi, intensively . Rinsema's own texts usually take the form of long poems and aphorisms . During the mobilization (the Netherlands were neutral during World War I ), Rinsema was stationed near the town of Alphen in North Brabant from 1914 to 1916 , where he made friends with the writer and visual artist Theo van Doesburg . Van Doesburg was very impressed by Rinsema, as he was able to find often abstract and difficult to fathom philosophical views (" denkbeelden ") in everyday life. Van Doesburg later visited him regularly in Drachten. It was also van Doesburg who published Rinsema's first volume of poems, Verzamelde volzinnen ( Collected Sentences ) in 1920 as a de Stijl publication . Kurt Schwitters was to read from this work in April 1923 at his Dada Soiree in Drachten. The local Dragtster Courant reports that this was the only serious moment of an otherwise hilarious evening.

At the beginning of the thirties, Rinsema moved to Assen , where he had a modernist- style house built on Kanaal 175 based on plans by the architect J.FA Göbel (1900–1967). After the Second World War , Rinsema returned to Drachten.
