Karl Wilhelm Ludwig Stein von Kaminski (born July 7, 1789 in Berent , † November 15, 1872 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Karl was the son of the District President of Bromberg Johann Salomo Stein von Kaminski (1762-1828) and his wife Karoline Dorothea, née Diehm (1771-1838).

Military career

Kaminski became effective on September 29, 1802 as Junker in the Dragoon Regiment "of Ansbach-Bayreuth" the Prussian army and was promoted to mid-October 1805 second lieutenant and adjutant in the II. Battalion. In the Fourth Coalition War he fought near Auerstedt , Nordhausen , Halberstadt , Hasselfelde , Zehdenick , Drischau, Prussian Stargard and in the defense of Danzig . On March 24, 1807 he was appointed regimental adjutant.

After the war, Kaminski was assigned to the Normal Dragoon Company on July 8, 1811 and promoted to Prime Lieutenant on February 4, 1812 . With his promotion to staff assistant master on June 4, 1813, he joined the light guard cavalry regiment. During the Wars of Liberation he was wounded in battle near Haynau and awarded the Order of St. Vladimir IV class. He fought near Borna , received the Iron Cross 2nd class for Umpferstedt and took part in the battles near Meißen , Görlitz , Waldau, Ebersdorf, Chalons and Vitry as well as the battles near Großgörschen , Bautzen and Arcis-sur-Aube .

On March 13, 1815, Kaminski was promoted to Rittmeister and squadron chief in the Guard Dragoon Regiment . This was followed from June 23, 1818 as a major and regular staff officer in the 1st Cuirassier Regiment . At the same time, from October 19, 1825, he was also the director of the division school and president of the examination committee for portepeef enlisted men in the 11th division . He was released from this position on June 2, 1828 and was awarded the service cross in the same year . For a short time Kaminski was entrusted with the command of the 7th Cuirassier Regiment from March 30th to June 6th, 1832 and was then assigned to the war ministry as a department head . There he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 30, 1834, and two years later to colonel . On April 10, 1838, he was appointed head of the Army Department in the War Ministry. In this capacity, Kaminski received the Order of St. John on January 18, 1840 . On March 30, 1840 he was then appointed remonteinspector . On October 28, 1841, he was promoted to senior of the Iron Cross, 2nd class, and on April 7, 1842, to major general. Kaminski handed over the post to his successor, General von Cosel and took on 7 October 1847 awarding of the character as Lt. Gen. his farewell to the statutory pension .

After his farewell, King Friedrich Wilhelm IV honored him on October 7, 1848 by awarding him the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. He died on November 15, 1872 in Berlin and was buried on November 18, 1872 in the St. Matthäifriedhof .

Kaminski married on March 1, 1827 in Königsberg Maria Aurora Gordack (1793-1885). The couple had several children:
