Rudolf Wilhelm Stein von Kaminski (born April 17, 1818 in Berlin , † May 29, 1875 in Coburg ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Rudolf was a son of Lieutenant General Karl Stein von Kaminski (1789–1872) and his wife Maria Aurora, née Gordack (1793–1885). The later Prussian Lieutenant General Oskar Stein von Kaminski (1820-1894) was his younger brother.

Military career

Kaminski visited the cadet house in Berlin and was then transferred in mid-August 1836 as a second lieutenant to the 2nd Guard-Uhlan (Landwehr) Regiment of the Prussian Army . As a regimental adjutant, he took part in the suppression of the Berlin barricade fighting in 1848 as part of the March Revolution . In March 1849 he was commanded as adjutant to the 2nd Guards Cavalry Brigade , advanced to Prime Lieutenant in May of the same year and was promoted to Rittmeister on November 10, 1853 after being released from his command . As such, he was chief of the 1st Squadron from June 14, 1854 to June 13, 1859 and then rose as a major to a regular staff officer .
