Every Second Counts (video competition)
Every Second Counts (English for Every Second Counts ) is a satirical competition for the title of the second best country after the United States . The trigger was the announcement by the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, when he was inaugurated on January 20, 2017, that America First would be the new vision from now on .

On January 22nd, 2017, the Dutch satirist Arjen Lubach showed a video on his TV show Zondag met Lubach with the title The Netherlands welcomes Trump in his own words . In it, the Dutch government apparently addresses the new US President personally and promotes being number two after the United States: "America first, Netherlands second". A Trump voice imitator uses typical Trump formulations such as “It's great”, “It's true” or “It's fake”. The video went viral ; It had been viewed over 24 million times on YouTube by mid-March 2017.
On February 2, 2017, the German satirist Jan Böhmermann showed a video entitled America First, Germany Second in his TV show Neo Magazin Royale , which takes up the Dutch idea and expands it into a competition: not the Netherlands, but Germany should be second behind the United States be. At the same time, Böhmermann announced that Europe-wide late-night shows would also create competition videos.
Its own website collects all national competition entries under the name Every Second Counts . In mid-May 2017 there were 27 videos from Europe, two from South America, four from Africa, six from Asia and one each from Australia and New Zealand on the website. Most of the videos are also available on YouTube .
Some applications were not recorded on Every Second Counts : from China , the GDR , the planet Mars , from Mordor , some German states such as Bavaria , the Saarland , districts such as Lower Franconia and cities such as Regensburg .
