Evil Sinner was a Belgian thrash metal band that was formed in Kortrijk in 1986, renamed itself Insufficient Memory in 1992 , and broke up shortly after the release of a demo in 1993.

history

The band was founded in May 1986 by guitarist Geert Heernaert and bassist Renaat Danckaert. In the same year the band recorded a demo and sent it to various labels and magazines. Shortly afterwards, drummer Diego Denorme joined the cast. The band continued to rehearse until singer Carlo Roels and guitarist Jan Maes completed the line-up. Together they recorded a demo called Merciless in June 1987 . Several gigs followed, including on July 4th in Lokeren , with Attila, Explorer, Hellfire and Vengeance . On November 21st they performed in Brunssum in the Netherlands with Sequence, Menacy, Cyclone and Alcoholica. A concert followed on November 29th as the opening band for Kreator and Voivod . In the first half of 1989 the line-up of the band changed significantly: Rolf V. replaced Jan Maes on electric guitar, while drummer Denorme was replaced by Jean-Luc Devos. Demo 2 was recorded with this line-up in June . On January 28, 1989 followed an appearance in Koekelare with Crosshead and Xiphoid. After the performance, the band reached a contract with Pilum Records and went to the Uptide Studio in Zelzate with producer Gus Roan to record their self-titled debut album. The album was released in the fall of 1989. The release of a second album was planned for February 1990, but it never happened because the band had previously separated from their label. Shortly after the album was released, singer Carlo Roels left the band in October 1989 and was replaced by Ronny "Koeke" Van Autreve. The first appearance with this new line-up followed on November 4th, in Katwijk , the Netherlands, together with the Russian band Круиз . On November 8th, they performed in Oordegem , where Sixty Nine and Excel were also represented. This was followed by another appearance with Excel, Sixty Nine and Unusual on November 11th in Witgoor-Dessel . In the next year further appearances followed like a concert with Sepultura in Brunssem, the Netherlands. In the same year, the line-up changed again: Drummer Jean-Luc Devos and guitarist Rolf V. were replaced by Gino De Witte and Bruno Catry. Before Catry's assignment, Roadie Johnny briefly played the electric guitar. This new line-up recorded another demo called No Escape in 1991 . The recordings took place in the HS Recording Studio in Verviers with producer André Gielen .

Further appearances followed in 1992. On May 17th the band played with Channel Zero and Erode to Greed in Gent . After a gig in Rekkem on July 11th , Geert Heernaert left the band. Since Heernaert was a founding member of the band, the group decided to change their name to Insufficient Memory and again to include singer Ronny Van Autreve in the band. In 1993 the band released a demo before breaking up. In 2001 the band got together again to play two concerts. The first was a benefit concert on September 22nd for Testaments Chuck Billy along with Deströyer 666 , Polluted Inheritance , Wicked Mystic , Infernal Legion , Mindlink and Erode to Greed. The second took place on October 7th in Lauwe . The band consisted of singer Ronny "Koeke" Van Autreve, guitarist and singer Geert Heernaert, bassist Renaat Danckaert and drummer Gino De Witte.

style

The band played an aggressive form of thrash metal that is comparable to the works of Cyclone and Assassin .
