Ewa Borowski

Ewa Borowski (* 1971 in Poland ) is a Polish film producer who lives and works in Germany .

Career

During her studies of classical philology at the University of Warsaw , Ewa Borowski worked for three years as a stage manager at the Teatr Ochoty there. After the fall of the Iron Curtain, she lived in Sweden, London and Crete before returning to Poland in 1995 and opening the first internet café in Warsaw. Borowski has lived in Germany since 1999 and in 2002 began studying film at the Cologne International Film School with a focus on creative production . The short films she produced, Frauenparkplatz (2004), Kurfrieden (2005) and Midsummer (2006), ran successfully at national and international film festivals . Borowski completed her studies in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts .

After completing her studies, Borowski worked as a producer for the Cologne / London production company Palladio Film , for which she produced two documentaries ( Look at me! From the television series Menschen hautnah (2007) and NoBody's Perfect (2008) by Niko von Glasow ). As a freelance producer, she made three short films with the company KameraKinderKöln (including Poldis Engel , 2006), which were selected as the official cultural contribution of the City of Cologne for the 2006 World Cup . In 2008 she was invited to the Berlinale Talent Campus . In cooperation with the director Dennis Todorović , with whom she founded the film production company Eastart in Cologne at the end of 2007 , the comedic crime drama Sascha was created in 2010 .

Borowski worked with director Shiar Abdi in 2014 in the film drama The Road to Aleppo , in which a boy is looking for his mother in the middle of the Syrian civil war . The tragic comedy Sister White , which was produced by Borowski in 2015, was again directed by Dennis Todorović. The film focuses on the relationship between the unequal sisters Martha (played by Željka Preksavec ) and Helene Weiß ( Lisa Martinek ), one of whom is a religious sister and the other is a convinced atheist.
