The three 12-year-old girls Rike, Betti and Pauline are big fans of the soccer player Lukas Podolski . When they found out about a soccer tournament in which an original soccer jersey of their idol with an autograph was the main prize, they immediately started training. But the teasing of a group of boys really get to them. Especially when the three youngsters destroy the girls' secret hiding place on the banks of the Rhine .

The three girls do quite well at the tournament. But in the final they will meet the boys of all people. They can only barely achieve victory and get the coveted trophy .

Production, background

The film was the official cultural contribution of the city of Cologne to the soccer world championship 2006 in cooperation with 1. FC Cologne . The project was patronized by Mayor Fritz Schramma , while the film received technical support from the Cologne International Film School .

The idea for the material came from the three Cologne students Betti Mai, Rike Böhlke and Pauline Raatz, who won a script competition with it. The jury included Lars Leese , Shary Reeves and Charlotte Roche . In the beginning, the film's title was football welds together . The script was written by the author Christoph Mathieu on the basis of the pupils' submission, whereby the first names of the female main characters remained identical to those of the three young authors.

The title is a tribute to Lukas Podolski's nickname Poldi and the television series Charlie's Angels .

The band Rammstein provided their song Sonne from their album Mutter for the soundtrack .

The film premiered on Cologne's giant screens that were set up for public viewings on the occasion of the 2006 World Cup. Following the event, the film was broadcast by WDR .
