The Excelsior Mountain is a 3,796 m high mountain in the eastern Sierra Nevada in the State of California of the United States . It lies on the border between Mono County and Tuolumne County .
Yosemite National Park stretches to the west of the summit and the Hoover Wilderness to the east . Peaks in the area are Camiaca Peak and Epidote Peak in the north, Black Mountain in the northeast, Mount Scowden in the southeast, and Shepherd Crest in the southwest. The dominance is 6.49 km, so the mountain is the highest elevation within a 6.49 km radius. It is overlooked by Mount Conness, which lies to the south-southwest .
