Ben Stiller is making a film about the Bosnian War because he wants to get away from his image as a comedian and wants to erect a memorial to the Bosnian screenwriter who lost his family in the war. Meanwhile, Andy desperately tries to get a speaking role, constantly harassed by his archenemy Greg Lindley-Jones. Andy speaks to the author who wants to stand up for him. When Ben Stiller behaves as a vain, arrogant, heartless and megalomaniac tyrant and insults Maggie, Andy intervenes and defends his girlfriend. His speaking role is canceled and Andy and Maggie have to leave the set.
2 2 The Ross Kemp episode Ross Kemp and Vinnie Jones July 28, 2005 Jan. 31, 2007 Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant 3.62 million
Ross Kemp is in a film that takes place during the Napoleonic Wars. Andy and Maggie have pathetic extras. Maggie hooks up with a handsome performer with whom she has disappointing sex. The one-night stand remains . Andy struggles with his completely incompetent agent and contacts Kemp to get a speaking role. He promises Andy this and acts like a tough man who has completed a SAS training. When Kemp brags that he can kill Vinnie Jones , Andy's nemesis Greg Lindley-Jones brings Kemp's statement to the vilified. Jones then threatens Kemp, who collapses miserably and turns out to be a poor sausage without self-confidence. Andy's speaking role is of course a thing of the past.
3 3 The Kate Winslet episode Kate Winslet Aug 4, 2005 Jan. 30, 2007 Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant 3.59 million
Kate Winslet plays a nun in a World War II film. However, not to keep the memory of the Holocaust alive, but because she believes that Holocaust films are Oscar guarantors ( Schindler's List , The Pianist, etc.). Maggie's new boyfriend likes nasty phone calls and Winslet tips Maggie on how to do it. Atheist Andy hooks up with a Catholic and tries to tear her up. For this he pretends to be a devout Catholic, which ends in a disaster at a church district meeting. When Maggie's boyfriend realizes she's been talking to others, including Kate Winslet, about his intimate preferences, he leaves her. A somewhat embarrassed Winslet tells Andy that playing a cripple ( Rainman , My Left Foot ) can also win Oscars.
4th 4th The Les Dennis episode Les Dennis Aug 11, 2005 Feb 6, 2007 Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant 3.93 million
Andy's agent gives Andy a ridiculous role: that of a fat genie in an oriental fairy tale performance by and with Les Dennis . He is desperately trying to get back into the limelight and is very proud of his attractive young fiancée. Maggie meets an old friend again, Lizzie Bunton. She is slightly insane, immature, and emotionally completely dependent on her affected, tyrannical father, the homosexual producer of Andy's play. At the Buntons birthday party, Maggie is the only one of Buntons age. There the father and daughter perform a medley and the father humiliates his daughter in front of the other guests (all of them retired). When Maggie tells Lizzie to break away from her dominant father, he throws her out. Meanwhile, Les Dennis learns that his girlfriend is cheating on him. A depressed Les Dennis cries himself out at Andy in the pub and then tows a drunk woman to polish up his self-confidence.
5 5 The Samuel L. Jackson episode Samuel L. Jackson Aug 18, 2005 Feb 14, 2007 Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant 3.58 million
Samuel L. Jackson plays an American policeman in the UK. Maggie and Andy also have roles in this film - again only as extras, of course.

A strange, corpulent and hypersensitive extra gets Andy a speaking role and Maggie makes an appointment with an attractive black guy. But the rendezvous with him goes catastrophically wrong. Maggie constantly has the feeling that the black guy could think of her as a racist and makes things worse with silly slogans. Andy is forced by the extras to go on a date with him. Whether this is gay or just completely screwed up is not cleared up. Andy breaks dinner at some point and leaves him deeply offended. A completely uptight appearance by Andy and Maggie in front of Samuel L. Jackson leads to Andy losing his speaking role again.

6th 6th The Patrick Stewart episode Patrick Stewart Aug 25, 2005 Feb 20, 2007 Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant 3.86 million
Andy speaks to Patrick Stewart and asks him for his opinion on Andy's script for a funny television series. Stewart himself tells Andy about his own dream film: A stupid, dirty flick that is all about being able to constantly show naked women. Nevertheless, Stewart lets his contacts with the BBC play and gives Andy an interview.

The audition is on the one hand successful as the BBC wants to produce the series, on the other hand Andy is disappointed because the series is made and rewritten completely without level. Greg Lindley-Jones doesn't like the fact that Andy is successful with his script.

Andy's new sitcom, When the Whistle Blows , is being shot while Maggie starred in a movie with Orlando Bloom . Orlando Bloom turns out to be utterly vain and he's appalled that Maggie doesn't think he's super-sexy. Andy is disappointed with the subterranean level of his sitcom in which he starred.
8th 2 The David Bowie episode David Bowie 21 Sep 2006 Jan. 10, 2010 Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant 3.84 million

Andy stars in a fantasy film with Daniel Radcliffe , Warwick Davis and Diana Rigg . Radcliffe is 17 and wants to make the actors and extras believe that he is a real man. However, his mother shows up on the set and cleans him down. At a particularly embarrassing moment, he throws a worn out condom on Dame Diana Rigg's head. Andy innocently falls victim to a media smear campaign for allegedly beating the mother of a boy with Down syndrome . When he finally kicks the short actor Warwick Davis , the scandal is complete.
10 4th The Chris Martin episode Chris Martin Oct 5, 2006 Jan. 24, 2010 Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant 3.6 million
Andy makes a charity video and meets Chris Martin from the band Coldplay . Martin is a completely shameless and decent snob who wants to use the charity photos as an advertising opportunity. He's trying to advertise his new album. The quota-hungry management of the show When the Whistle Blows ensures its cameo - against Andy's will. The press describes this appearance as the new low point of the show. Andy is nominated for a BAFTA . When Stephen Fry wins the award, he makes fun of Andy. Darren's stupidity puts Andy in a new embarrassing situation: He is caught using drugs in the toilet with Darren and Ronnie Corbett . That excludes him from any other BAFTAs (except the Welsh) forever.
11 5 The Ian McKellen episode Ian McKellen Oct 12, 2006 Jan. 31, 2010 Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant 3.66 million
Andy is distraught over the scathing reviews. Then he succeeds in getting an audition with Sir Ian McKellen . He is said to play the lead role in the gay drama A Month of Summers . In contrast to When the Whistle Blows, the piece has a certain level. Andy is visibly uncomfortable and the performance ends in disaster as Andy breaks off the piece. Darren's date with Maggie also ends in disaster when he begins to chop up his feces with a stirring stick.

Andy meets Jonathan Ross on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross . Ross is megalomaniac and considers himself one of the greatest comedians in British television history. Andy makes the acquaintance of the mother of a doomed boy. This urges Andy and asks him to visit the boy in the hospital, which Andy reluctantly agrees to do. Andy puts the pistol on Darren's chest: Either he gets him to talk to Robert De Niro or he fires him. The incompetent Darren actually succeeds in doing this, contrary to expectations. When Andy is supposed to come to the conversation with de Niro, he goes with Maggie to the doomed boy, since this seems more important to him at this moment.
