The Fährhof is a former nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipalities of Sottrum and Hellwege in the Sottrum municipality in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district .
The former nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 063 is 12.7 hectares in size. It is almost completely part of the FFH area "Wümmeniederung". The area has been under nature protection since May 26, 1976. On August 1, 2020, the newly designated nature reserve " Wümmeniederung mit Rodau, Wiedau and Trochelbach " opened. The responsible lower nature conservation authority was the Rotenburg (Wümme) district.
The former nature reserve is located between Ottersberg and Hellwege in the Wümmeniederung north of the Wümme and borders directly on the former nature reserve " Vossberge ", a former shifting dune area . The area is characterized by blow-out hollows and dune swellings. In the wet hollows, swamps with cotton grass and peat moss as well as gelatinous and willow bushes predominate, while woody trees can be found on the dry dunes.
