The Fédération Française de Tennis , short FFT ( German  "French Tennis Federation" ) is the umbrella organization for all French tennis clubs . The association was originally founded under the name Fédération Française de Lawn Tennis and in 1976 the name was changed to its current name. The association has its headquarters in the Stade Roland Garros in Paris . It is recognized by the World Tennis Federation and the French Ministry of Sports and comprises around 8,300 clubs with around 1.1 million members. The association's president has been Jean Gachassin since 2009 . The FFT's field of activity is the promotion and organization of tennis in France, the coordination and support of the tennis club, the administration of the French tennis teams at the Davis Cup and Fed Cup and the organization of tennis competitions such as the French Open .
