Félix Gouin (born October 4, 1884 in Peypin , Bouches-du-Rhône , France , † October 25, 1977 in Nice , France) was a French lawyer and politician .

Life

Gouin attended high school in Marseille and studied law in Aix-en-Provence . From 1907 he was a lawyer in Marseille and from 1914 did his military service. He was elected mayor of Istres in 1923 and was a member of parliament in Aix-en-Provence from 1924 . In 1938 he became an employee of Léon Blum and deputy chairman of the socialist parliamentary group .

From January 1946 to June 1946 he was President of the Provisional Government of France. In 1956 he took part in the 11th session of the UN General Assembly in New York as a member of the French delegation . He ended his political career in 1958 and resigned all of his mandates . Félix Gouin then became an honorary member of the French National Assembly .
