Fürfurt is the smallest district of the community Weinbach in the central Hessian district Limburg-Weilburg and lies within the boundary of the district Elkerhausen .

Geographical location

Fürfurt is located in the Weilburger Lahn valley area , with the eastern Hintertaunus joining a little to the southeast. It is located in the northwest of the Taunus Nature Park , 2.9 km southwest of the main town. The Lahn flows west of the village . The village is on the district roads 434 and 436.

history

Fürfurt was first mentioned as Virdenwert in a document that was written between 1148 and 1154 . In 1473 a chapel was mentioned in the place. Fürfurt had been part of the Villmar parish since 1154. After a phosphorite deposit was discovered in the vicinity, a phosphorite mill was put into operation in 1869. That is why there was a chemical factory in Fürfurt until 1927. The place belonged to the municipality of Elkerhausen in the Oberlahnkreis . This was incorporated into the community of Weinbach on July 1, 1974.
