The Free Sports Association Harburg was a sports club from the Hamburg district of Wilstorf in the Harburg district , with the departments for football , handball , wrestling , table tennis , gymnastics and volleyball .

history

The Allgemeine Turnverein Harburg (ATV) had existed in Harburg since 1865 . Because of the repeal and out of solidarity, many members left the ATV. On June 6, 1893, the workers' gymnastics club from 1893 was founded. With this step one of the oldest workers gymnastics clubs was established. In 1909, the men also founded a football department, among other things. After the reconstruction, a sports field was set up in Heimfelder Strasse in 1928. Like all workers 'clubs, the workers' gymnastics union had to dissolve the club in 1933. In 1945 the former workers ' sports clubs Arbeiter Turnerschaft von 1893 , TV Vorwärts von 1808 , FC Herta 1909 and Freier Wassersport Harburg became the legal successor to the Freie Turn und Sportvereinigung von 1893 . A year later, "Turn" was deleted. In 2013 FSV Harburg merged with SV Rönneburg to form FSV Harburg-Rönneburg .

Men's soccer

In 1980, the men's soccer team was able to qualify for the main round in the DFB Cup 1980/81 . In the first round you had to travel to SV Waldhof Mannheim , where you lost 8-0.

Women's soccer

The footballers of FSV Harburg had their most successful period in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Harburg women became Hamburg champions five times and thus qualified for the German championship. The team reached the quarter-finals in 1979 and 1980 . There were also two cup wins and participation in the women's DFB Cup , where the Harburg women each reached the quarter-finals. The end came in the 1982/83 season with 1: 4 after extra time against VfL Wittekind Wildeshausen . A year later , the FSV failed 6-0 to Eintracht Wolfsburg .
