Façonnable is a known internationally, originally French fashion brand for sophisticated ladies - and gentlemen clothing .

In 1950, the Frenchman Jean Goldberg opened a boutique for men's bespoke tailoring in Nice . From the late 1950s he tailored clothing Stars of Hollywood , the occasion of the Cannes Film Festival on the French Riviera came. In 1961 Goldberg's son Albert (* 1938) took over the boutique with his business partner Jean-Pierre Benaym and named it Façonnable (German: processable, modelable). The company made a name for itself with exclusive sportswear, especially shirts , and with southern French charm. Branch openings in Monte-Carlo , Cannes , St. Tropez and Marseille followed .

The brand was also sold in the USA from 1988 through an exclusive contract with the American luxury department store chain Nordstrom . Nordstrom set up Façonnable Corners in its own stores and opened a Façonnable boutique on Fifth Avenue in New York City in 1993 . There was a boutique in Düsseldorf in the 1990s. In 1995, a women's collection was offered for the first time on the American market. Since the late 1980s there has been a collection of glasses as well as watches and accessories, and from the mid-1990s also fragrances . In 1999 the turnover was 300 million DM . In 2000 , Nordstrom acquired the Façonnable brand from Albert Goldberg for $ 169 million. A design studio remained in Nice . In 2001 Albert Goldberg retired from the company as a designer. A design team took over its function. Nordstrom sold the brand to the Lebanese conglomerate M1 Group in 2007 for $ 210 million . The company headquarters were relocated in Nice.

In 2007 there were four Façonnable boutiques operated by Nordstrom in the USA and 37 in Europe. In 2008 the American Eric Wright, who previously worked for Fendi and Trussardi , was appointed designer at Façonnable; he left his post in 2010. In 2010 the company launched an online shop for the USA and Europe on its own website . Nordstrom continues to carry the Façonnable brand in its range. In 2012 the British-Turkish former Rena Lange designer Julian Neale became the creative director at Façonnable. The Façonnable Group's CEO has been Moustapha El-Solh since 2012, replacing his predecessor Lance Isham. Isham followed Alberto Lavia, a former KENZO CEO, in 2010 . Façonnable has been sponsoring the Monte Carlo Masters since 2006 and has in the past designed uniforms for the linesmen employed there .

The collections for men are currently divided into Façonnable Atelier (classic business fashion ), Façonnable (sporty and elegant main line), Façonnable Tailored Denim (formerly Façonnable Jeans , casual denim collection), Façonnable Azur ( swimwear and leisure fashion ) and Façonnable Sport ( tennis - Collection). The main Façonnable collection is for women .
