Cancelarich played for Belgrano from 1992 to 1993 and started a certain club odyssey that took him to four different clubs in five stations in four years, where he stayed for a maximum of one year. The clubs Newell's Old Boys , again Belgrano, Los Millonarios in Colombia and CA Huracán in Argentina joined his list of activities. After a year-long stint at Huracán, Cancelarich went to CA Platense for two years , a traditional Argentine club that had long since slipped into the lower class.

After two years at Platense, Fabián Cancelarich returned to Ferro Carril Oeste in 1999 and made fourteen league games for the club in one season. He then played for four years from 2000 to 2004 for Central Córdoba de Rosario before ending his active career in 2004 at the age of 39.

National team
