Tetrahydroharmine ( THH ) is an indole alkaloid that belongs to the group of substances of the β-carbolines and harmane alkaloids .

Occurrence

Banisteriopsis caapi

It occurs in the liana species Banisteriopsis caapi and in the seeds of the steppe rue ( Peganum harmala ).

Physiological effect

Tetrahydroharmine is a weak serotonin reuptake inhibitor , but not a monoamine oxidase inhibitor .
