Fabian Timaeus
Fabian Timäus (* 1507 in Goldberg , Silesia ; † January 31, 1581 in Stettin ) was a Lutheran theologian and from 1563 to 1570 superintendent of Pomerania-Stettin.
Live and act
Fabian Timäus began his studies with the famous Rector Valentin Potsendorf in his birthplace Goldberg. In 1537 he was a student at the University of Wittenberg with Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon .
He gained his first preaching experience under the Pomesan bishop Paul Speratus in Marienwerder in Prussia. After a short teaching activity in various places in Silesia , he was called by Krossen to Sagan as a preacher in 1540 . Ten years later he officiated in Guben, Brandenburg .
In 1563 he received from the Pomeranian Duke Barnim IX. the appointment as court preacher at the castle church in Stettin . When the superintendent (the term “general superintendent” came up later) Paul von Rhoda died in the same year , he also assumed this office until 1570.
His successor was Christoph Stymmel .
