history

founding

After it was founded in 1987, the Fabylon publishing house started its program in 1988 with two elaborately designed, illustrated paperbacks:

Both novels won placements at the Kurd-Laßwitz-Preis in 1989 . New York is Heavenly received first place and Der Traum der Wintersonne received third place in the Best German SF Novel category . These placements and a timely review of The Dream of the Winter Sun in the women's magazine BRIGITTE meant that the small publisher was soon able to establish itself in a market for fantastic literature dominated by large publishers.

Between 2007 and 2010, Fabylon published the 12-volume science fantasy series SunQuest under the direction of Uschi Zietsch. Each volume was written by two authors. In addition to numerous first publications by young authors (e.g. Dennis Mathiak, Laura Flöter, Alex Nofftz), experienced authors such as Ernst Vlcek , Uwe Anton and Hubert Haensel could also be won over to work at SunQuest .

Extensions in 2011 and 2014

In 2011, Fabylon expanded its program by taking over and expanding the Ars Amoris , Ars Litterae , Master Detectives , SteamPunk and Seven Fancy series published by Alisha Bionda . In addition, in 2011 the area of eBooks with the label fabEbooks was added, of which some of the publications have been almost continuously in the bestseller lists since the end of 2012.

After 27 years of existence, Fabylon was fundamentally reorganized and restructured in 2014. The logo has been redesigned, the online shop has been redesigned. Since then, the publishing program has been expanded considerably through intensive cooperation with literary partners. Since the increasing digitization of the book market poses new challenges for everyone involved, Fabylon also offers an edition (under the name of all-round author service ) for self-publishers and beginners, including a preparation for the sentence flag for authors.

In 2014 the program expanded to include audio books with the label fabAudio , and in 2015 the label fabyKids was added. In 2016 the program was expanded with the Vampir series : The start of at least one new series is also planned for the anniversary year 2017.

program

In the course of the three decades of its existence, the publishing house has developed from an editor of individual novels in the science fiction field to a provider of different genres and different forms of publication. The publisher also adapted to the respective trends in literature. The genres of fantasy and science fiction are currently being served.
